In Search of the Book Grail
A READING LIFE CONSISTS OF EXPLORING BEYOND THE COMMON PLACES
I once woke up realising I wanted to live in Wonderland. Not a dream, not a wish, not a utopian ambition, but a new purpose: a tangible existence, a simple yet fulfilling way of life. Nothing is simple. This is the dichotomy of living: simplicity is the unit of measure for a complex, infinite, mysterious reality.
Alice in Wonderland taught us that, down the rabbit hole, the ordinary becomes extraordinary. The pursuit of wonder through a reading life is no different. Like Alice, we find ourselves exploring in different directions as we hunt for books, from run-of-the-mill recommendations to a labyrinth of unknown stories.
With this mission in mind, I would like to embark on a collective journey to rescue unjustly forgotten books of merit: books that lie outside the Anglosphere's literary mainstream, books that, for one reason or another, offer a unique reading experience—the untranslated, the misunderstood, the underrepresented.
